Colors of Bengaluru

Flower market section of Bengaluru city market area.

One of the oldest and busiest markets of nama Bengaluru. Last time i visited this area was aleast 15 years back with my grandfather. The market is named after the former king of Mysore state - Krishnaraja Wodeyar. Malls, retail chains have done little harm to the charm of this place. The flower market is the most vibrant part of the place. It is flooded with all types of bright colored flowers. You will still the old Bangaloreans buying theirs weeks quota of vegetables from here every Sunday morning.

For more pictures of the charming vibrant place click here.

Liked the innocent look on his face. Though a bit blurred this my personal best among the pictures i took in the market.

Spring Rain

The mild evening showers, the smell of the earth, spring weather, fresh green leaves spurting, flowers blooming - the most pleasurable experience that one can have in namma Bengaluru.

Roads carpeted with the flowers of "Honne Mara" after the previous night shower.

The fresh bright green leaves of "Honne Mara" with its flowers carpeting the streets - the perfect sunrise.

Silver Lining

More pictures from ITPB. The spring sky with few thick clouds. The setting sun casts a brilliant spell on these clouds to give a lively feel.

Nama oorina jathre

Orru Jathre of Ramapura. These are the pictures of the first day of the three day festival. This jathre is jointly organized by the people of Ramapura and Bimanahalli.

The first ceremony - Going around the village inviting the Gods to participate in the festival. Those are stone wheels.

Gowdara Bandi

Mine is the best.
The women folk offer these decorated baskets to the Goddess. More the decoration more the pride :)

sea of flowers

The procession starts from the smaller temple of the village, passes through the orru bagilu (the main village gateway) and ends at the main village temple.

Goddess Varamahalakshmi. People here believe that the Goddess is the daughter of the Bimanahalli village. It is the thavara mane (parents house) of the Goddess. That explains the participation of Bimanahalli in the jathre.
